But what many people neglect to consider when they are trying to deal with overwhelming amounts of stress is the way in which they care for their bodies. Stress is a natural response, and if you are working with a healthy body to start off with, your response to stress will be much better and more productive than if you are living an unhealthy lifestyle.

To this end, be sure to consider the way in which you live your life on a physical level when you think about your mental ability to deal with problems. Staying fit and eating right can make a bigger difference than you’d ever considered. With this in mind, consider these tips when trying to change your lifestyle for the better and deal with stress.

  1. Get enough sleep. Your mother wasn’t lying when she was talking about beauty sleep! In this case, though, the beauty is definitely more than skin deep – getting enough of it fuels your mind as wellas your looks. If you feel tired, it’s likely to increase your feelings of stress because you’ll be thinking on a less rational level.
  2. Exercise regularly. Not exercising and being physically active is a shame. Not only does working out make you look and feel gold, it’s a key element in helping your body deal with stressful situations. You don’t even have to be a marathon runner to reap the benefits – even just getting thirty minutes of aerobic exercise three times a week can make a big difference, both in your health and in your stress levels!
  3. Eat healthy. If your body is fueled properly, it will run better and you’ll be better able to deal with whatever the day throws your way. Always remember to eat breakfast – it really is the most important meal of the day. Your trials and tribulations will seem much worse if you have to start the day with your tank on empty.Keep your energy levels up and your mind clear with well balanced, nutritious meals and you’ll feel better instantly. To keep your blood sugar levels more constant, eliminate the use of sugar and moderate your use of caffeine. Nothing is quite as bad as a stress attack when you’re on a caffeine crash and a sugar high.

And, as an added bonus, you’ll feel better, too!
