Have you always thought of your brain as rigid and “carved in stone”?
Not so. Brain research continues to show that the brain is constantly changing in response to life experiences.  In addition, smart lifestyle choices help to change you brain for the better!
Recent brain studies have added even further to this picture of cheer. Recent research has shown that it is possible to change your brain in positive ways at any age.
So, gone — once and for all — is that old, hackneyed excuse, “I’m too old to change!”
In the same way as weight training helps your muscles stay toned, those same physical exercises have been found to be beneficial for maintaining brain firmness. In addition, mental and social activity has been found to further keep your brain from going flabby. Just 20 minutes of the practice of Mindfulness Meditation — a concentrated state of relaxed awareness — has been found to improve the mind’s ability to pay attention all day long.
The upshot: Specific areas of your brain may actually grow as result of specific experiences. Certain areas may function more efficiently, too … not matter how many years you’ve lived. This all helps keep your brain in shape, whatever your age.
