Filed Under Emotional Healing, Life Coaching, Spiritual Healing
The statistics are staggering. Either directly or indirectly stress accounts for 80 percent of all illnesses.
In fact, stress is more dangerous than we thought. You’ve probably heard that it can raise your blood pressure, increasing the likelihood of a stroke in the distant future, but recently a health insurance brochure claimed that 90 percent of visits to a primary care physician were stress-related disorders.
The American Psychology Association, along with many health magazines, reports that chronic stress can interfere with the normal function of the body’s immune system. Studies have proven that stressed individuals have an increased vulnerability to catching an illness and are more susceptible to allergic, autoimmune, or cardiovascular diseases.

So, what can you do to reduce the debilitating effects of stress? You can listen to music!
That’s right — music has been found to promote relaxation. Music is a significant mood-changer and reliever of stress, working on many levels at once.
The entire human energetic system is extremely influenced by sounds, the physical body and chakra centers respond specifically to certain tones and frequencies. Special consideration should be given to the positive effects of one actually playing or creating music themselves.
Among the first stress-fighting changes that take place when we hear a tune is an increase in deep breathing. The body’s production of serotonin also accelerates.
Playing music in the background while we are working, seemingly unaware of the music itself, has been found to reduce the stress of the workplace. That’s why so many retail places play music while you shop – to take your mind off the high prices!
Music was found to reduce heart rate and to promote higher body temperature — an indication of the onset of relaxation. Combining music with relaxation therapy was more effective than doing relaxation therapy alone.
So, to reduce stress and increase your level of deep relaxation, choose music. What are the songs that have special meaning for you? This music can provide a special source of stress relief for you. Go ahead — give it a try! I encourage you to experiment to find out what works best for you.
