Holidays like July 4th can be both dazzling and disorienting.

The fireworks go off. Families gather. Flags fly. But if you’re living through a grief or loss transition, this day might land differently.
Maybe you’re carrying a recent loss.
Maybe you’re holding space for an old wound.
Maybe you just feel… off, and can’t quite name why.
You’re not alone.
In my coaching work with clients navigating life after loss, I’ve seen how holidays often stir up unspoken grief — not just for people we’ve lost, but for versions of ourselves we’ve had to say goodbye to.
And yet, there is quiet power in this day, too.
Because independence can take many forms.
It might be the freedom to set a boundary.
To step away from traditions that no longer fit.
To choose rest over performance.
To feel it all — without explanation.
This July 4th, give yourself permission to honor the life you have and the life you’re still building. There’s no roadmap for grief, but there is a path forward — one conscious step at a time.
You’re doing the brave work of healing. Even now. Even today.
