Breathing for Life!
Breathing is a key technique both to release stress and to improve your health! It is a physiological process that is often taken for granted. However, no matter what your normal habit of breathing, you can override this and create an effective pattern to enhance your health and your life.
To create effective breathing, it is important that you breathe in a smooth rhythm — slow and deep. In this way, you release all carbon dioxide and waster products … and your fill your lungs with plenty of refreshing, recharging oxygen. Your body then uses this oxygen to stay strong and healthy, and to heal whatever might be in need of healing.
One healing pattern of breathing is to exhale to a slow count of 4 … followed by inhaling to a slow count of 4. As you do this, allow your lungs to empty on the exhalation. Then, allow your lungs to fill completely on the inhalation. Do this for a cycle of 15 slow, deep breaths.
As you do this more and more, you begin to make a habit of this pattern of breathing. By doing so, you begin to relax deep with — the deep breathing brings this about.
If you are serious about making this a habit, it is important to REMEMBER to breathe deeply and slowly. To help out with this memory-task, purchase an inexpensive wristwatch with an alarm that you can set. Set the watch alarm to go off each hour, on the hour. Now, each time that your watch alarm goes off, take that breathing break — take 15 slow, deep breaths, where you exhale to a slow count of 4, then inhale to a slow count of 4.
By doing this on an hourly basis, you will quickly notice relaxation benefits. And, before long, you will also discover yourself breathing this way automatically!
I encourage you to use these techniques over and over to accomplish improved health and increased relaxation in your life!
